SpaceX has signed the world’s first private passenger to fly around the Moon aboard our Starship launch vehicle - an important step toward enabling access for everyday people who dream of traveling to space.
Only 24 humans have been to the Moon in history. No one has visited since the last Apollo mission in 1972. Find out who’s flying and why on Monday, September 17 at 6pm PT.

2023 seemed so far away that day. I believed they'd do it, but that maybe the timeline would slip. 2023 still seems possible though. Can't wait.

@Bravo Sierra I think the simulation in the presentation was for a mars landing. atmosphere is a lot less dense so it would make sense that the landing maneuverer would be different. The design has changed a lot aswell since 2018.

@Bravo Sierra If I were a measly common person in the 60’s, there’s no way the Apollo mission could work, at least in my mind. Just because you don’t see it happening, doesn’t mean that there isn’t a team of engineers working to make it a reality.
Bravo Sierra
Bravo Sierra Pirms 20 dienām
Haha you might, I'm not. At least anytime soon. That landing maneuver looks insane. Seems like a million ways it could go wrong and die, and only one way where you survive. The maneuver they show here looks more calm though, maybe they changed it since.

I'm glad someone who is going up is bringing along creators instead of just being there to throw parties and get wasted. A visionary is perfect for this flight and someone who understands how important this journey is is fantastic. I expect more epic sci-fi films and music and art that compliments the idea of a multi-planet species.

Joe Biden and his family are indebted to China. And he's about to become president...
OneCupOfCoffee204 Pirms Mēneša
China knows where to spend their money.
OneCupOfCoffee204 Pirms Mēneša
For most of the countries of the world, China offers to help them build infrastructure. And when they can't pay up, the country's become indebted to them. As for the USA, this is what a hostile takeover looks like. It is 12/15/2020 and we still don't know who our president is.
OneCupOfCoffee204 Pirms Mēneša
How can you respect a genius who cares more about his personal dreams than people? How can you advance the world while shitting on the people of the world? Do the ends justify the means? Shouldn't we first look to ensure the quality of life before we look to spread our corruption throughout the galaxy? What good is being a bi-planet species if we aren't willing to better ourselves, it will just be more of the same on another world.
OneCupOfCoffee204 Pirms Mēneša

What Elon Musk is doing is truly great but selling out to China isn't.
OneCupOfCoffee204 Pirms Mēneša
Hey, Mr. Everyday Astronaut I can see your tongue coming out of Elon's mouth. While China is funding his dreams and putting people in concentration camps, selling people, and harvesting their body parts.
OneCupOfCoffee204 Pirms Mēneša
Look at this through the lens of the present situation. And how China is trying to choose our president.
OneCupOfCoffee204 Pirms Mēneša
I'm surprised to see the comments haven't been turned off and how no one notices China in effect, is buying SpaceX. You are nieve if you think this a private citizen buying his way into space. This is China making Elon Musk beholden to them. It's the same thing they do to the rest of the world. It's crazy how people turn a blind eye when enough money is flashed in front of them. China is selling Chinese Tesla vehicles made in China? I wonder if they are still doing so. The world is owned by China and you fools don't care.

Beautiful achievement! REALLY HAPPY FOR YOU! However, life is so unfair, while I am struggling to find the money to put down a deposit for my first house at 40 as my kids asking me "where is home", others can afford to buy an build a spaceship to "visit" Moon. I'd be happy to be able to close down my credit cards, while others are happy to fly to the Moon. 1 person has Billions, Billions of people living and dying with loans and loans. Life difference from #MoonAndBack, why is that, why do you need so much money?! Why few people on Earth have more than half of money on the world? A way too big difference between poor and rich.

In the first launch that was postponed they were more confident and couldn't wait to take off. I can see in the sembrante of astronauts that they are unsure with today's launch. although they are smiling happily there is a stain that hangs over them with suspicion, whether or not they should proceed. They are quietly afflicted and speak only what they ask of them. Belt that something is going to happen can be a successful launch or a rocket pani causing the to abort the mission. After the explosion of Starchip N4. An uncertainty remains in the air that causes discomfort leaving those concerned with their lives. Leaving your families is not an option. I strongly believe in the success of the mission. Everything is going to be all right is what we all want. Success in the mission and may God bless our astronauts. Amen!

It would be nice to land on Europa, Titan, or Enceladus with the BFR system. Titan would have the closest atmosphere to that of Earth, but a Hydrocarbon Cycle instead of a Water Cycle that drives things.

I would love to go. I am an artist, my art is my kindness and respect to every thing that i have had contact with in my life and having an impact on all the people i meet in my life and making them a better person for knowing me. I hope i have anyway. I always say to my friends and family to do one act of kindness each day. Ive stuck to that moto my whole life and till i die. One act of kindness every day of your life is a form of art to me. To change the world with kindness takes only each person alive to act kind once a day to another person. If i went to the moon i would be filled with love and kindness. It takes one kind act a day by every person alive to change the world for the better but the world is still to see that day.
Magiktcup Pirms 8 Mēnešiem
Space x should focus solely on the Moon not Mars. The Moon is small and close meaning it would be cheap compared to Mars. We should focus on terraforming the moon. If we cant even do that then Mars is a pipe dream.

Quite pathetic that he wants artists to go when it's actually Scientists who change the world. The person who enabled the trip is a Scientist and Engineer. Artists do not change the worl. Artists depict the world that is. Scientists and engineers should go.

Alvian Choiri Apriliansyah Pirms 9 Mēnešiem
The point is really to inspire people. Yes, scientists & engineers are absolutely & definitely changing the world (well, who's going to build a rocket then, if not by engineers & technicians?), but can you imagine a kid watching an arts by an artist who's actually going around the Moon, actually feel the sense of space? Can you imagine a sense of wonder & excitement, and a few of those kids actually went into space industry & changing the world in the future, because they're inspired by the arts? And not just the kids, but also everyone else, who are excited & optimistic about the future after seeing the arts? Don't means anything here, but most people aren't as interested for the complex & relatively hard to swallow the things about some science. This is where artist will be helpful, they're easier to grasp by the public, and have an impact of seeing the space as important & exciting There's Alan Bean, who's a painter, but that's occurred long after he went to the Moon Other than him, there's actually not much artists that went into space, scientists & engineers already has a big place in spaceflight. This is finally a big opportunity for the artists. They're as important as everyone else!
