SpaceX is targeting launch of the Es’hail-2 satellite on Thursday, November 15 from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The primary launch window opens at 3:46 p.m. EST, or 20:46 UTC, and closes at 5:29 p.m. EST, or 22:29 UTC. The satellite will be deployed to a geostationary transfer orbit (GTO) approximately 32 minutes after liftoff.
A backup launch window opens on Friday, November 16 at 3:48 p.m. EST, or 20:48 UTC, and closes at 5:29 p.m. EST, or 22:29 UTC.

Chatted with some folks over this satellite today : ) Setup was a ridiculous 240cm Prime Focus dish with a homebrew "POTY" Dual-LNB (for 2.4Ghz and 10Ghz) the radio was a LimeSDR, transverter and a no-brand chinese 10W power amplifier. We had some "petals" that could make the dish 3M diameter if needed, but they were not needed at all... with a 2.4M dish the Es'Hail-2 / Q-OSCAR-100 gives a very good signal. We had a lot of fun setting everything up... was not nearly as difficult as one might think. The GB1VE special event station was on there too... being in a virus lockdown our radio regulator, OFCOM, had apparently allowed 6 different sites to use the events callsign (as participants couldn't all be together in one place due to social distancing) ... nice to hear of OFCOM being flexible for once ; )))))) Today was all single sideband voice. We're hoping to try to send some Amateur TV signals through and see if we can get that working. For anyone interested, you can tune the Es'Hail online using a WebSDR, it gets quite busy in the afternoons : eshail.batc.org.uk/nb/ We found that WebSDR site very useful for getting feedback on our TX when setting everything up.

Any idea why the second stage's speed continually drops by about 1km/ph. After the payload deployment, would the speed of the satellite payload continue to decrease? If not, what stops it from doing so? Energy from it's solar panels? How would that increase (or keep constant) it's speed? Many thanks!

Dr. Deek Hounds
Dr. Deek Hounds Pirms 2 Gadiem
At 41:48 the acceleration is around 38m/s^2. The engine produces 914,000 newtons of thrust, hence the total mass would be around 24 tons and the engine weighs 0.5 ton. Hence the combined mass of the remaining fuel, fuel tanks and satellite is around 23.5 tons!! How much the satellite actually weighs???

oh yes. i mistook newtons as tons
How Does it Really Work
F=ma, but F is not measured in tons. If you do the calculation correctly, the mass will come out as 23 tons, not 2.5.

Darwin Deming
Darwin Deming Pirms 2 Gadiem
Does any one know why after SECO-2 the velocity begins to decelerate rather than stay constant while it still climbs higher in orbit? I've seen this in several geostationary satellite launches. I would have imagined it should have stayed constant once the engine cut off because F=ma. We see that after SECO-1. No force means no acceleration. But because it is decelerating, there must be a force acting on it. Is this the pull of gravity acting on the rocket as it moves higher in orbit? I would assume that in an unbalanced orbit with a gain in altitude you must compensate for velocity as gravity constantly acts on the second stage. That is the only thing I can think of.
How Does it Really Work
If you toss something up, it has to slow down, because it is going against the force of gravity. The force of gravity is inversely proportional to the distance between the centers of mass of objects. On the ground, we are roughly 6371 km from the center of mass of Earth. So adding 200 km does not change the force of gravity acting on the rocket very much -- the gravity on low earth orbit is essentially the same as on the ground. The further you depart from Earth, the weaker the gravitational field, but or course it never disappears completely. The Moon is held in obit around Earth by Earth's gravity, and some satellites are flying much farther than the moon.

@@Adam A. Schitt - My main interest is for SpaceX to earn enough profit to invest in the BFR. Any extra feature that costs some funds is not necessary. Remember, SpaceX is a private company therefore any extra fund that spent for free public entertaining effects their bottom line, their engineers should spend their time working on launching the rockets not to make better video.

Can we have Stage 1 telemetry after MECO/stage separation on the left side of the video stream?
Arivald Ha'gel
Arivald Ha'gel Pirms 2 Gadiem
@How Does it Really Work Indeed. We have two camera views, so we should have two telemetries. More so since telemetry is practically never lost, and video stream takes a lot more bandwidth, and can, and will be lost. In this particular launch, quite often actually.
How Does it Really Work
That would be nice. Usually SpaceX only shows it when they are not allowed to show the flight of the second stage -- like in ZUMA Mission or NROL 76.

The Ultimate Reductionist
It's weird: ALL moonlanding deniers & flat-earthers SEEM to me (though I HAVE NOT bothered to search further) to be American. It's strange that I've not seen or heard a single Russian claim the USA's moonlandings were hoaxes.
How Does it Really Work
@The Ultimate Reductionist Here is what I found (google translated from Russian): According to a survey conducted by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center, 57% of Russians do not believe that astronaut Neil Armstrong in 1969 became the first person in the world to land on the surface of the moon. About it reports RIA Novosti with reference to the study. “More than half of Russians (57%) claim that there were no people landing on the Moon, in 1969 the US government falsified documentary materials of the expedition to the Moon. More often than others, this opinion is shared by people with secondary education (65%), ”the message reads. It is noted that 24% of respondents are convinced that the astronauts actually landed on the moon. 19% of survey participants found it difficult to answer the question. The study, which was attended by two thousand respondents over 18 years old, was conducted May 29-30, 2018.
How Does it Really Work
@The Ultimate Reductionist A large number of Russians today are anti-American on a much more visceral level than it ever were in Soviet times -- and they are inclined to believe any stories that make Americans look bad. Among less educated young people, such views can be quite common.
The Ultimate Reductionist
@How Does it Really Work Ah... thank you. So there DO exist Russians, living today, who deny Americans landed on the moon?
How Does it Really Work
The official Russian propaganda emphasizes that Americans are buying Russian rocket engines (which is true), and are incapable of launching people into space (which is also true, currently). Many ordinary Russians conclude from that (as intended), that without Russia, US is not capable of any spaceflight (except Challenger disaster, which they somehow remember). That the moon landings could not have happened is an obvious follow up conclusion from the above. A staggering number of Russians believe that -- easily double digits in percentage points.

can someone explain me why there is always some kind of smoke or gas coming out of the rocket before the launch and what is that?
How Does it Really Work
The rocket is being filled with kerosene and liquid oxygen. Liquid oxygen is very cold. Wherever liquid oxygen is being handled, its low temperature produces fog in the air -- a similar effect to what you see when you open a freezer, only stronger. That is what we see here.
